The crab trap was a thoroughly enjoyable page turning thriller with charming local references. Great (rocky) beach read! Recommend with pleasure.

It was refreshing to encounter this old fashioned murder "who done it". The plot captured my interest and the character development was excellent. It was an intriguing mix of romance, the law, compassion, and depravity, The "Garden Bay" of 1990 depicted in "The Crab Trap" is an interesting place, which is worth revisiting in future novels with the characters developed in the author's first novel. I'll be on the lookout for his next effort.

A page turner of a legal mystery like those from John Grisham, but with all the local flavor of Seattle, Puget Sound, the Cascade Mountains, and the San Juan Islands. Mr Holte's legal background provides just the right twists, turns and reveals... leading to a terrific ending. Can't wait for the next book.

I loved the book especially because I can identify with the location. It had twists and turns, which made it hard to put down. I hope Scott continues the series. I will personally ask him to do so.
